Our 'Elf on the Shelf'..headed home :)

Christmas Day.. a time of laughter, love, gifts, and happiness.. unless you're a proud owner (friend?) of an Elf on the Shelf. Santa's big arrival brings lots of surprises and goodies but the big guy takes away our Elf (aka-Charlie), causing what can be major trauma on children. My girls look forward to seeing Charlie every morning. They love his little tricks and magical jokes. Without fail, they'd wake up every morning and race down the stairs to see what kind of mischief their elf made during the night. They laughed at the doodles he made on our family photo, shrieked when they realized he hung their panties with the stockings on the mantle, and were overjoyed when they saw he made snow angels in flour on the kitchen table.  This morning, my oldest daughter realized Charlie wouldn't return for many months and she cried..dreading the absence of his little self. As much as I tried to reassure her he'd be back and needed a rest from all of his trickery, I must admit I was also a little choked up. Charlie..until next year..we'll miss you!
